International Chechnya Film Festival

The International Chechnya Film Festival is to take place in Moscow on October 1-4, 2003. Film demonstrations within the festival limits were already held in Great Britain (in London) on June 23-25, in the US (in Washington on September 15-18, and in New York on September 23-25), and in Japan on September 27.

The following organizations are in the organizational committee of the International Chechnya Film Festival in Moscow:

  • Museum and Public Center named after Andrey Sakharov;
  • Human Rights Center "Memorial";
  • Moscow Helsinki Group;
  • All-Russian Public Movement "For Human Rights";
  • Russian Pen-Center;
  • Committee "Civic Assistance";
  • Glasnost Defense Foundation;
  • Union of Russian Committees of Soldier's Mothers;
  • Forum of Emigrant Organizations;
  • Foundation for Civil Liberties;
  • Holocaust Foundation;
  • Non-Profit Organization "Internews".

The festival opening and press-demonstration of the films will be held on October 1, 2003. L. M. Alekseyeva, M. A. Aslamazyan, P. L. Arsenyev, A. E. Gerber, L. I. Grafova, V. B. Korsunsky, V. D. Melnikova, L. A. Ponomaryov, A. B. Roginsky, Y. V. Samodurov, A. K. Simonov, A. P. Tkachenko will be participants in the festival opening.

The program of press-demonstration:

Dance, Grozny, Dance! - Directed by Jos De Putter, Zeppers Film & TV, The Netherlands;

Chechen Lullaby - Directed by Nino Kirtadze, Unit Documentaires, France;
Babitsky's War - Channel 4, UK;

Murder with International Consent - Directed by Krysina Kurczab-Redlich, POLSAT-TV, Poland;

Stories Not for Children - Directed by Zara Imayeva, Russia, 2000 (the film is presented for the Moscow festival program by the Museum and Public Center named after Andrey Sakharov).
