Open Club of Abkhazian NGOs advocates adoption of law on the official language

At the same time, NGO activists hold that dates when some articles of the law are to come into effect seem to be too optimistic. "The public authority heads are unlikely to have a perfect command of the Abkhazian language by January 1, 2007," said participants in a round table discussion at the Open Club of NGOs.

"If the present draft of the law is redacted and brought to conformity with the Constitution, if the dates when some articles are to come into effect are reviewed, then its adoption will be quite possible," think the participants in the round table, arranged by the Center of Humanitarian Programs.
