Father of suspect of murdering head of Dagestan MIA indignant of ICPO's attitude

Today, Ahmadudin Borziev, father of Shamsullah Borziev, one of detained suspects of murdering Interior Minister of Dagestan Adilgerei Magomedtagirov, has stated that Vladimir Markin, official spokesman of Russia's ICPO (Investigatory Committee at the Prosecutor's Office), who denied that suspects were tortured, knows nothing in fact about the incident.

Let us remind you that Vladimir Markin stated earlier that the charges of violating the rights of the suspects "have nothing to do with reality and evidence a desire of certain forces to destabilize the situation in the republic."

"I'm shocked. My son was illegally detained, he was tortured, and there's an official medical certificate; however, Mr Markin asserts that the forensic-medical examinations had established that nobody tortured my son, and his health condition is satisfactory," Mr Borziev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The suspect's father said that just yesterday, on March 1, he came back from Vladikavkaz, where his son is kept. "Again, advocates and I were not admitted to my son, while Markin asserts that he has a lawyer, and investigatory actions are conducted under the law. In the meantime, the ambulance was twice called to him. And again, doctors were not allowed to hospitalize my son, although he needs inpatient treatment," said Mr Borziev-senior.

Gadji Makhachev, permanent representative of Dagestan at Russian President, who is now is in Makhachkala, said that the situation around Borziev's arrest was really unclear.

He also said that negotiations with the Russian Prosecutor's Office so far gave no fruit. "Yesterday, the head of the Botlikh District met President of Dagestan Magomedsalam Magomedov. He gave a command to the Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan to take the case under control. I personally talked at night with heads of the ICPO for the SFD (South Federal District). They assured me that lawyers could visit the detainees right then; however, lawyers telephone from Vladikavkaz that nobody would listen to them," said Makhachev.
