A fighter from South Ossetia was killed in Ukraine.

South Ossetian resident Ruslan Gazzaev was killed in the combat zone. Since the beginning of the Russian operation in Ukraine, authorities have officially acknowledged at least 97 South Ossetian servicemen killed there.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," the newspaper "Republic of North Ossetia," on the fourth anniversary of the start of the special military operation, published portraits of South Ossetian soldiers killed in the combat zone during that time. The names of another 42 South Ossetian soldiers killed in the SVO zone were revealed from the list. According to the publication, 33 people were killed in military operations in Ukraine between February 2025 and February 2026.

A fighter from South Ossetia, Rulan Gazzaev, call sign "Bald," was killed in a special military operation in Ukraine, the South Ossetian state news agency "Res" reported.

Gazzaev was 31 years old. He is survived by a young son. The date and address of the funeral will be announced when the fighter's body is returned to his homeland, the agency clarified.

Thus, at least 97 fighters from South Ossetia have been officially recognized as killed in the military operation.
