A soldier from South Ossetia was killed in the SVO zone.

The funeral of Dmitry Kaloyev, killed in the war zone, was held in Tskhinvali. In total, at least 96 combatants from South Ossetia were killed in the fighting in Ukraine.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," the newspaper "Republic of North Ossetia," on the fourth anniversary of the start of the special military operation, published portraits of South Ossetian fighters killed in the war zone during that time. The names of another 42 South Ossetian fighters killed in the SVO zone were revealed from the list. According to the publication, 33 people were killed in the military operation in Ukraine between February 2025 and February 2026.

Dmitry Kaloyev (call sign Kalosh), who was killed in the special military operation zone, was buried in Tskhinvali on May 8, the state news agency "Res" reported today.

The fighter had been missing in action since July 2023. Only now, three years after his disappearance, have his remains been returned to his homeland. Dmitry was 43 years old and is survived by three children. Kaloyev was posthumously awarded the "Defender of the Fatherland" medal.

Thus, at least 96 fighters from South Ossetia have been officially recognized as killed in the military operation.
