A 30-year-old Ukrainian citizen was detained in Krasnodar Krai for desecrating 14 graves of participants in a special military operation. A criminal case has been opened against him.

As reported by Caucasian Knot, on the night of May 1, 2026, unknown individuals damaged 14 graves of participants in a special military operation at a cemetery in the village of Kopansky in the regional center. They smashed 13 glass frames containing photographs on tombstones, removed a photograph from one of the gravestones, and damaged a wooden cross. A criminal case has been opened regarding the desecration of graves.

According to investigators, on the night of May 1, 2026, a 30-year-old Ukrainian citizen, intoxicated, decided to damage the graves of NVO participants. He donned a balaclava to conceal his face and entered the cemetery, located in the village of Kopansky in the regional center. There, he damaged 14 graves of participants in a special military operation.

The accused smashed 13 glass frames containing photographs on tombstones and also removed a photograph from one of the tombstones before fleeing Krasnodar, the Investigative Committee for Krasnodar Krai reported today on its Telegram channel.

During questioning, the accused admitted his guilt. Investigators will ask the court to arrest the suspect. He is charged with damaging military graves. This offense carries a sentence of up to three years in prison.

The "Caucasian Knot" also reported that at the end of June 2025, two schoolgirls in the village of Petrovskaya tore up and scattered flowers near the Eternal Flame. Preventive talks were held with the girls and their parents.
