A traumatologist injured in an attack at a hospital in Makhachkala has been discharged from the medical facility, while another wounded doctor remains undergoing treatment.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," the attack on doctors in the emergency room of the Republican Clinical Hospital in Makhachkala occurred on April 23. The attacker stabbed the traumatologist and surgeon on duty and was detained. He was arrested for two months. The traumatologist's condition was assessed as moderately severe, and the surgeon underwent surgery and was transferred to the intensive care unit. The incident is being investigated as attempted murder. According to investigators, the man attacked the doctors "due to sudden hostility."

The traumatologist injured in the attack has been discharged home. The doctor from the Republican Clinical Hospital named after A. Vishnevsky was provided with all necessary care at the medical facility, which enabled the patient's rapid recovery, the Vishnevsky Republican Clinical Hospital reported today on its Telegram channel.

The surgeon, who is currently under the care of specialists in the hospital's intensive care unit, will also be discharged in the coming days. The statement noted that the surgeon is currently feeling well and is actively recovering.

The "Caucasian Knot" also reported that a woman in labor and her child died in July 2018 at the perinatal center of the Khasavyurt Central City Hospital. Her relative then assaulted the doctor. Security forces placed the maternity hospital under guard. Just a few days after the patient's death, the hospital's chief physician was fired. An obstetrician at a perinatal center was charged with "causing death by negligence due to improper performance of professional duties." The case was sent to court in November 2019. In Khasavyurt in 2017, five doctors appeared in court on charges related to the death of a woman in labor in January 2016. Her relatives, in protest, threw stones at the maternity hospital.
