The bodies of two soldiers killed on the Ukrainian front have been delivered to Georgia.

Bacho Bebia and Davit Gogadze, who fought on the side of the Ukrainian army, were killed in combat. Georgia's fifth president, Salome Zurabishvili, called the absence of government representatives at the meeting of the soldiers' bodies unacceptable.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot" in early September 2025, Temur Shanava was reported killed during the fighting in Ukraine. He served in a unit of the Ukrainian army.

The bodies of Georgian soldiers Bacho Bebia and Davit Gogadze, who died in Ukraine, were delivered to Tbilisi. They were met at the airport by relatives and activists, as well as Georgia's fifth president, Salome Zurabishvili. She expressed regret that the ceremony took place without an honor guard or the participation of government officials, including the Ministry of Defense.

Zurabishvili called the absence of officials and military honors unacceptable, noting that it is also painful for many Georgian military personnel, Publika reports.

Davit Gogadze, whose body will be transported to Kakheti after arrival, died two years ago; delivery of his body was delayed for a long time. Bacho Bebia will be buried in Zugdidi, the publication states.

As a reminder, in December 2022, Georgia's ruling party, Georgian Dream, informed volunteers heading to Ukraine that Georgian law allows for the stripping of their citizenship for serving in foreign troops. The authorities want to prevent Georgians from participating in fighting in Ukraine, seeing the volunteers as a political threat, analysts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" stated.
