A former judge from the Rostov region has been convicted of fraud.

The court sentenced former Shakhty City Court judge Sergei Sham to seven years in prison, finding him guilty of fraud, official forgery, and making knowingly unjust decisions.

The Oktyabrsky District Court of Rostov-on-Don sentenced former Shakhty City Court judge Sergei Sham to seven years in prison, finding him guilty of attempted fraud in the collection of payments, fraud in the collection of payments, official forgery, and issuing knowingly unjust decisions, Kommersant reported on April 25, citing the court's press service.

Along with Sham, 13 pensioners were convicted; they were found guilty of fraud in obtaining payments or attempted fraud and received suspended sentences ranging from one and a half to three years.
