As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," on March 25, five train cars carrying 350 tons of Russian wheat were sent to Armenia via Azerbaijan. On April 1, a train carrying 349 tons of grain from Russia departed via Azerbaijan to Armenia. By that date, a total of 23,500 tons of Russian grain, over 1,000 tons of fertilizer, and 68 tons of buckwheat had been transported via Azerbaijan. Several social media users believe that the supply of Russian wheat via Azerbaijan is purely economic in nature and is driven by Armenia's need to import grain. Opponents countered that for Russia, this is primarily a political move in an effort to maintain Armenia within its orbit of influence.

Russian grain has been shipped via Azerbaijan to Armenia in transit. Five train cars of grain, weighing a total of 350 tons, were dispatched from the Bilajari station to Boyuk Kesik, Azertac reported today.

Over 24,000 tons of grain, over 1,600 tons of fertilizer, and 68 tons of buckwheat were shipped from Russia to Armenia via Azerbaijan. Along with transit, Azerbaijan continues to export petroleum products to Armenia. To date, Azerbaijan has exported more than 8,500 tons of diesel fuel, 979 tons of AI-92 gasoline, and 2,955 tons of AI-95 gasoline to Armenia, the publication states.

Fuel is supplied to Armenia from Azerbaijan

As a reminder, on December 18, 2025, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan delivered gasoline to Armenia for the first time, and on January 9, Azerbaijan sent a second shipment – ​​1,742 tons of gasoline and 946 tons of diesel fuel. On March 16, it was reported that a shipment of 4,500 tons of diesel fuel was shipped from Azerbaijan to Armenia.

In October 2025, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced the lifting of all restrictions on cargo transit to Armenia. In early November 2025, a shipment of Russian grain arrived in Armenia via Azerbaijan for the first time since the 1990s. The Armenian government noted that this fulfilled one of the agreements reached in the United States, which contributes to strengthening peace between Yerevan and Baku.

On February 4, Aliyev and Pashinyan discussed the economic cooperation they had initiated at a meeting in the UAE and agreed to seek opportunities to expand trade. Although trade and economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Armenia is mutually beneficial, it will be limited in the near future, analysts in Baku noted.
