Two more political forces have submitted documents to the Central Election Commission of Armenia to participate in the parliamentary elections.

The Strong Armenia bloc submitted an updated package of documents to the Central Election Commission of Armenia, and the Wings of Unity party of former Armenian Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan also submitted an application to participate in the elections. The Republican Party will not participate in the elections.

As reported by the Caucasian Knot, on April 17, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated in parliament that the Strong Armenia party and the Armenia bloc should not overcome the threshold for the parliamentary elections. The Central Election Commission of Armenia received documents from more than 20 political parties and alliances expressing their desire to participate in the parliamentary elections on June 7.

The Wings of Unity Party, headed by former Armenian Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan, has submitted a package of documents to the Central Election Commission. The party's electoral list includes 80 people, Armenia Today reports.

Collaboration with the ruling Civil Contract party is impossible, and as for other forces, it's too early to talk about it; the issue will be clarified soon, said Liparit Drmeyan, a representative of the Wings of Unity party included on the proportional list of candidates for parliament.

According to him, the main goal is to prevent the reproduction of the current authorities. Drmeyan expressed confidence that the Wings of Unity party will be elected to parliament, dismissing as false the claims of those forces that claim they are guaranteed a constitutional majority. He assessed this as an attempt to mislead the public. He expressed confidence that Arman Tatoyan will become prime minister, based on public trust in him and the results of opinion polls, News.Am reports.

"Strong Armenia" submitted updated documents to the Central Electoral Commission

On April 22, the "Strong Armenia" bloc of parties submitted to the Central Electoral Commission all the necessary documents for participation in the parliamentary elections scheduled for June 7, including a proportional list of candidates.

The list is headed by party leader Samvel Karapetyan's nephew, Narek Karapetyan, lawyer Aram Vardevanyan, and constitutional law specialist Gohar Meloyan. In total, the list contains 200 names, writes "Golos Armenii."

Aram Vardevanyan noted that they are likely the only political force that was forced to change the party's name a few days before the application stage (remove Samvel Karapetyan's name from the name - note "Caucasian Knot"). "This, in essence, is an approach that contradicts the recommendations of the Venice Commission, as well as the best practices of the Central Electoral Commission of Armenia. However, let the obstacle be precisely this way, although this should not have been the case."

At an extraordinary session on April 7, the National Assembly of Armenia adopted amendments to the Electoral Code in the second and final reading. In particular, the names of parties and blocs of parties participating in the parliamentary elections cannot contain personal names, the "Novosti Armenia" agency reported on the same day.

The deadline for political parties and blocs of parties to submit documents to the Central Election Commission for participation in the parliamentary elections ends on April 23 at 18:00 (17:00 Moscow time), Armenia Today writes.

Sargsyan's party decided to give way to the "other" opposition

On the eighth anniversary of his resignation as president, Serzh Sargsyan, the head of the Republican Party of Armenia, explained the party's refusal to participate in the parliamentary elections.

"Eight years after my resignation, a significant part of the people believes that Nikol's power exists as long as the "former" are at the forefront of the political struggle against him.
