In the Derbent District, a search is underway for two people who were in cars washed away by floodwaters.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," the Gedzhukh Dam collapsed in the Derbent District of Dagestan, evacuating residents of six villages. Most of them have been placed with relatives, 94 people have been sent to a temporary accommodation center, and another eight have been hospitalized. The flood washed several cars off the highway, and the Ministry of Emergency Situations is conducting a rescue operation. On the evening of April 5, rescuers pulled seven people from the floodwaters after they were swept away in a car, but two of them died in the hospital.

Two people are missing as a result of flooding in the Derbent district, and the search for them continues, TASS reported today, citing Nariman Kazimagomedov, Minister of Civil Defense, Emergencies, and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters of the Republic.

According to him, "during the passage of the main flow of water," three cars containing 10 people were swept away. Six were rescued, and two others died. Two remain missing, and rescuers and local volunteers are searching for them.

Fundamental assistance of 15,600 rubles is available for each flood victim in Dagestan, the republic's authorities announced on March 31. Compensation has also been announced for those who have lost property, health, or loved ones.
