A drone attack occurred in Novorossiysk.

Novorossiysk has been attacked by drones, the city's mayor announced.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot," on March 1 and 2, seven people were injured in a drone attack in Novorossiysk, damaging 76 private homes and 38 apartment buildings. A state of emergency has been declared in the city, giving authorities expanded powers to deal with the incident. Authorities announced payments to the victims.

Novorossiysk Mayor Andrei Kravchenko announced the drone attack on his Telegram channel at 8:21 a.m. Moscow time. "A siren is sounding in Novorossiysk – the 'Attention everyone!' Drone attack. [...] I remind you of the ban on filming and posting photos/videos of the attack repulse, the work of defense systems, and special and operational services on social media," he wrote.

Earlier, at 7:44 a.m. Moscow time, Kravchenko warned of a drone attack threat. "A drone attack threat has been declared in Novorossiysk," the statement read.

The official also issued recommendations to residents and visitors of the city. "When the sirens sound – the 'Attention All' signal – if you are at home, do not approach windows. Take shelter in a room whose windows do not face the sea or in windowless spaces with solid walls (hallway, bathroom, toilet, storage room). If you are outside, take shelter in the basement of the nearest building or in an underground passage (parking lot). Do not use a car for cover. Do not hide under the walls of apartment buildings!" - he wrote.

As of 8:50 AM Moscow time, no comments have been posted under the mayor's posts, and commenting is disabled.

As a reminder, Novorossiysk has been the target of massive attacks before. For example, on September 24, 2025, after drones and unmanned boats attacked Novorossiysk and Tuapse, two people were killed and 14 others were injured. That day, people in Novorossiysk, Tuapse, Gelendzhik, and Sochi were ordered to leave the beaches, but in Sochi, some vacationers returned to the sea. Social media users called this behavior reckless.

Civilians in the coastal areas of Kuban resorts risk becoming accidental victims in attacks, so the evacuation of vacationers from the beaches was a justified measure, experts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" confirmed.
