Iran's state-run channel leaked a false report about Chechen troops being ready to deploy to the Middle East.

Press TV reported that Chechen military units have declared their readiness to deploy to Iran. This report is not supported by official statements, and Apti Alaudinov, speaking previously about Iran, only mentioned his personal readiness to repel US attacks.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," Iran must be helped by all means, stated Apti Alaudinov, head of the Akhmat special forces, on March 4. The general noted that if the Russian leadership makes such a decision, he is ready to go to Iran "even today" to help allies repel a ground advance by American troops.

Iranian state channel announced the readiness of Chechen troops to fight in Iran

According to media reports, Chechen military units have declared their readiness to be transferred to Iran to support Iranian armed forces in the event of a US ground invasion, PressTV, an international broadcaster from Iran, reported.

"These forces, loyal to Ramzan Kadyrov, the head of the Chechen Republic, call the ongoing US-Israeli war against the Islamic Republic of Iran a religious war. They describe their possible direct intervention as jihad—a battle of good against evil—in defense of the Islamic Republic of Iran from American and allied forces." - the channel's website states.

The names of the military units and the source of the information are not provided in the text on the channel's website.

Press TV is Iran's first 24-hour international news television network broadcasting in English. It began full-fledged broadcasting in June 2007, according to the website.

Alaudinov had previously called for mobilization amid the strikes on Iran

The gist of Press TV's announcement is similar to the statement made by Apti Alaudinov, head of the Akhmat special forces, who almost a month ago, on March 4, only declared his readiness to participate in military operations in Iran.

Alaudinov had also previously spoken out on the topic of Iran. It is necessary to mobilize and prepare at least 500,000, and preferably a million people, said Apti Alaudinov, head of the Akhmat special forces, on June 13, 2025, and after the first Israeli strikes on Iran. Alaudinov countered that the book is about the joint struggle of Muslims and Christians, and its ideas are presented from an Islamic perspective, but adapted for fighters who consider themselves Orthodox. He emphasized that the book's co-author was the imam of Akhmat, Magomed Khitanaev.

As a reminder, in the Akhmat special forces, which initially consisted only of Chechens, they now make up only 25% of the personnel; 50% of the fighters are Russian, and the rest are of other nationalities, said Apti Alaudinov, explaining the appearance of the Orthodox cross on the unit's flag.
