A resident of the Astrakhan region has been arrested for his involvement with the LGBT* group.

An Astrakhan court has remanded a man to pretrial detention after an investigator deemed his social media posts "propaganda for the ideology of the LGBT movement"*.

Officers from the Astrakhan Region Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs opened a case against the man for participating in an extremist organization (Part 2 of Article 282.2 of the Russian Criminal Code, which carries a prison sentence of two to six years).

The Sovetsky District Court of Astrakhan granted the investigator's motion to arrest the accused, the court's press service reported on March 25.

According to the prosecution, the man maintained a VKontakte page under a "dummy name." Investigators found "propaganda of the ideology of the international LGBT* social movement" and "encouragement to participate" in the photos and videos he posted from November 2023 to December 29, 2025.

The social media user was arrested for one month and 25 days. The court remanded him to pretrial detention, given the severity of the crime and his lack of registration in Astrakhan, the report noted.

The court's press service identified the accused by the initial A. According to the public file of pre-trial arrests, the Sovietsky District Court of Astrakhan remanded Arstan Arstangaliyev into custody on March 24.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that a resident of Karachay-Cherkessia received a 2.5-year prison sentence in December 2025 on a similar charge.
