The former construction minister of North Ossetia has been arrested.

The court has remanded Konstantin Morgoev, former Minister of Construction of North Ossetia, in custody for two months on suspicion of abuse of office.

The Leninsky District Court of Vladikavkaz has arrested Konstantin Morgoev, former Minister of Construction of North Ossetia.

According to the joint press service of the courts of general jurisdiction of North Ossetia, Morgoev, who served as the Minister of Construction of the republic in 2022-2023, is suspected of committing crimes under paragraphs "c", "d" and "d" of Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of power). The former construction minister has been detained in a criminal case related to the construction of Spartak Stadium. In 2022, the North Ossetia Capital Construction Department illegally awarded a state contract to a contractor for the stadium's reconstruction. The initial cost of the work was 458 million rubles, but it subsequently increased to 671 million rubles. The contractor, however, entered into contracts with a subcontractor for the work.
