Alexander Bastrykin has ordered a criminal investigation into the death of a 69-year-old patient at the Adygea Republican Clinical Hospital in Maykop, who fell down an elevator shaft. His body was discovered three weeks later.

A 69-year-old patient at the Adygea Republican Clinical Hospital in Maykop went missing before surgery. He left his room and vanished. Relatives, police, and volunteers searched for him. The search was delayed due to non-functioning CCTV cameras.

The tragic incident occurred in February. It came to light after Adygea residents contacted the Investigative Committee of Russia information center. They reported the hospital's poor maintenance. It turned out that the lighting in the medical facility does not function at night, the elevator regularly breaks down, emergency stops occur, and the doors open before the cabin arrives, the publication "Morning South" reported.

In Adygea, a criminal case has been opened for providing services that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in the death of a person 1 , the press service of the Investigative Committee for Adygea reported today on its Telegram channel.

"During the investigation, it was established that the elevator shaft portal on the seventh floor of the urology department of the medical facility was accessible to unauthorized persons. As a result, a patient in the department, wanting to use the passenger elevator, fell into the open shaft, as a result of which the man sustained injuries that led to his death," the department said in a statement.
 
Currently Investigators and forensic experts are conducting investigative actions aimed at establishing the circumstances that led to the elevator doors opening unexpectedly and the person falling into the elevator shaft.

Information about the death of a 69-year-old patient at the Adygea Republican Clinical Hospital was published by maykop_incognito on Instagram*. By 8:00 p.m., the post had garnered over 1,500 likes and over 270 comments.
