A protest march under the slogan "Strength in Unity" took place in the center of Tbilisi. The event was dedicated to the idea of ​​unification: representatives of nine pro-Western opposition parties, who recently announced the formation of an alliance to "dismantle the regime," took to the streets together for the first time. The alliance included Akhali, Girchi More Freedom, Droa, Unity - National Movement, European Georgia, Strategy Agmashenebeli, Federalists, Freedom Square, and the National Democratic Party, writes "News Georgia."

Two opposition forces that also position themselves as pro-Western: Lelo - Strong Georgia and the former prime minister's party, Gakharia for Georgia, will not join the alliance. The Girchi Party is also not part of this alliance, but it was not considered part of the opposition unity and never participated in any negotiations, the publication states.

Citizens initially gathered near the Philharmonic Hall, from where they marched to the legislative body. They carried flags of Georgia and the United States, as well as banners with various slogans, demanding the release of those detained during the protests, Interpressnews reports.

Protesters in Georgia have been demanding new parliamentary elections and the release of political prisoners since November 28, 2024. Security forces carried out violent dispersals of the protests, using tear gas and water cannons, and detained protesters. Over the course of the protests, more than 1,000 people were subjected to administrative prosecution.
