Seven preschoolers from Paraul remain in hospital

Three of the 10 children hospitalized with poisoning at a private kindergarten in a Dagestani village have been discharged from the hospital. A heating appliance, improperly connected to a gas pipeline, has been identified as the cause of the poisoning.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," on February 2, 10 children at a private kindergarten in the village of Paraul, Karabudakhkent District, were hospitalized with carbon monoxide poisoning. Three of the victims are in satisfactory condition and will soon be discharged for outpatient observation, the Dagestan Ministry of Health announced in the evening.

Of the 10 victims, three have already been discharged, Dagestan Minister of Energy and Tariffs Marat Shikhaliev announced late in the evening on February 2 on his Telegram channel.

The minister explained that he had visited the district hospital. "Understanding that the lives and health of children were at stake, I personally visited the medical facility, spoke with the children, their parents, and the head physician. I was convinced of the main thing – there was no threat to life," he wrote.

The cause of the poisoning was a heating appliance (burner).

Specialists from the gas company and regulatory authorities conducted an inspection of the kindergarten, the official noted. "An inspection revealed that the kindergarten building was illegally connected to a gas pipeline—there was no gas supply contract. According to preliminary data, the poisoning was caused by a heating appliance (burner) connected to the gas system using a water hose, which is a gross violation of safety regulations," the publication states.

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Dagestan, as of 7:30 a.m. Moscow time on February 3, had not released any new information on the investigation. The republic's Ministry of Health had not yet announced the children's discharge on its Telegram channel.
