Sources reported the detention of a former minister in North Ossetia.

Security forces in North Ossetia have detained Alan Kusrayev, who resigned as Minister of Agriculture four days ago.

Security forces have detained Alan Kusrayev, the former Minister of Agriculture of North Ossetia, and the director of one of the ministry's departments, an informed source reported.

According to the source, the officials are suspected of fraud and abuse of power, and pretrial detention has been chosen as a preventive measure for them, Krylia TV reported today.

Kusrayev held the post of minister since August 2, 2022; he resigned at his own request on January 28, the publication states.

The anonymous Telegram channel Mash Gor also reported today on the detention of the former minister and his former subordinate, without citing a source.

FSB and the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for North Ossetia, as of 2:56 p.m. Moscow time, they did not report the former minister's arrest on their websites.

Alan Kusrayev was dismissed from his post as Minister of Agriculture at his own request. The decree was signed on January 28 by the head of the republic, Sergey Menyailo, the administration of the head and government of North Ossetia announced on its Telegram channel that same day.

By another decree, Sergei Menyailo appointed First Deputy Minister Alan Makiev as acting head of the department, the publication notes.
