The head of the Russian Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, ordered a criminal investigation into negligence following complaints from Volzhsky residents about the failure to complete a major overhaul of a secondary school on time.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," on January 22, parents of students at a school in Volzhsky complained about the failure to complete a major overhaul. The work was supposed to be completed by March 2025, but classes are still not in session at the school.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, has expressed interest in a complaint from Volzhsky residents regarding the disruption of a school's major overhaul, according to a message published on the agency's Telegram channel on January 24.

The message notes that Volzhsky residents complained that their children were forced to change schools due to unfinished major overhauls at two educational institutions included in the modernization program. Based on this incident, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Volgograd Region opened a criminal case under Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (negligence).

Bastrykin instructed the head of the regional investigative department, V. Semenov, to report on the progress of the criminal investigation and the arguments in the appeal.
