The head of a district in Kuban was dismissed after searches.

The Primorsko-Akhtarsky District Municipal Council of Kuban dismissed Maxim Bondarenko due to a loss of the governor's confidence.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot," on January 20, security forces conducted searches at the home of Maxim Bondarenko, head of the Primorsko-Akhtarsky District, in connection with violations in the design of a home for the disabled. Two billion rubles were spent on the construction of this facility, despite the fact that the facility was built on an unsuitable site, and the engineering work was carried out with violations.

Maxim Bondarenko was dismissed as head of the Primorsko-Akhtarsky Municipal District the day after searches were conducted at his home. This decision was made by the municipal council deputies on January 21.

The regional governor's statement about his loss of confidence in the official was the basis for Bondarenko's resignation, Kommersant reports.

The Krasnodar Krai Prosecutor's Office also announced Bondarenko's resignation. The agency had already found him guilty of corruption violations in August 2025: Bondarenko provided the governor with false information about his income and assets and was involved in a conflict of interest during the distribution of a plot of undivided state property.

Based on the prosecutor's office's findings, the governor initiated his own investigation, which fully confirmed "the facts of corruption offenses committed by the head of the municipal district," the regional prosecutor's office's official Telegram channel reported.

On the day of his resignation, Bondarenko himself posted footage of the ballet "Swan Lake" on his Telegram channel. After this, he twice changed the channel's name in a patriotic vein: first, he added the Russian tricolor after his name, and then placed another flag before it. Bondarenko then thanked readers for their words of support, wishing "health and prosperity" to "those who write nasty things."

Maxim Bondarenko has headed the district since December 2017. He served as acting head for his first two months, and was appointed head of the district in January 2018. In November 2024, the Primorsko-Akhtarsky District was transformed into a municipal district, after which Bondarenko was unanimously elected head of the new entity.
