An official is suspected of illegally demolishing a building in Malgobek.

Investigators have reported on a criminal case against the former mayor of Malgobek, who illegally demolished a three-story non-residential building in 2017, causing damage to its owner in excess of 12 million rubles.

Investigators in Ingushetia have opened a criminal case against the former mayor of Malgobek on suspicion of abuse of office and causing damage in the amount of more than 12 million rubles, the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the republic reported on its Telegram channel.

"A criminal case has been opened against the former head of the administration of the municipal entity "Urban District of Malgobek", suspected of committing a crime under paragraph "c" of Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. (abuse of power with grave consequences)," the statement reads.

In 2017, he reportedly illegally demolished a non-residential three-story building belonging to a local resident without his consent and without compensation. "The suspect's illegal actions resulted in a significant violation of the rights and legitimate interests of the owner of a non-residential building in the form of significant property damage on an especially large scale in the amount of over 12 million rubles. A range of investigative actions are currently being carried out aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident," the statement reads.

According to preliminary data, the suspect is 55-year-old Sharpudin Mamilov, Fortanga reports.

This is already the second case against Sharpudin Mamilov; in 2019, he received a three-year suspended sentence, according to Sapa Kavkaz.

On July 8 of that year, the Investigative Committee announced the transfer to court of the case of former Malgobek Mayor Sharpudin Mamilov, who, according to investigators, abused his authority by paying more than 34 million rubles in debt owed by Malgobek Vodokanal for electricity and water from the city budget.
