The court refused to release Anar Asadli under house arrest.

The lawyer's petition for the transfer of Anar Asadli, chairman of the Elevation Party, who is accused of large-scale fraud, was rejected by a judge of the Baku Court of Grave Crimes.

As reported by Caucasian Knot, in April 2023, the Narimanov District Court of Baku arrested Anar Asadli, chairman of the Elevation Party, for three months. He has been charged with fraud. In July of that year, the court transferred Asadli to house arrest. On October 25, 2025, Asadli was arrested again and charged with large-scale fraud.

At Anar Asadli's trial on January 9, his lawyer petitioned for the defendant's release from the "aquarium" and permission to be with his defense attorneys, as well as for house arrest to be replaced by pretrial detention, Oxu.az reports.

The court refused to release Asadli to house arrest, but allowed him to sit with his lawyers.

Asadli stated that he has no debts to the victims. One of them, Ogtay Gasimov, testified that Asadli took $150,000 from him. He first gave him $50,000, which Asadli allegedly promised to invest in buying and selling real estate in Istanbul. He then took more money from Gasimov under the pretext of participating in a hospital construction project through a tender. He then claimed to be investing the funds in a pawnshop business and an oil company in Azerbaijan.

After the testimony, a verbal altercation broke out between Asadli and Gasimov. Asadli insulted the victim's representative, after which the judge placed him back in the "fishbowl."
