A serviceman from North Ossetia was killed in Ukraine.

Vladimir Ikayev from Ardon was killed in combat. Since the beginning of the Russian operation in Ukraine, authorities have named at least 536 combatants from North Ossetia killed there.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," by January 5, at least 535 fighters from North Ossetia had been officially recognized as killed in the military operation in Ukraine. Among the latest casualties disclosed by authorities was Mikhail Golovkov from the Mozdok district.

The name of another soldier killed in Ukraine was announced on the evening of January 7 by the Ardon district administration, announcing his funeral. The deceased is Vladimir Ikayev from Ardon.

Ikayev's funeral will be held in Ardon; it is scheduled for January 8. The age and biographical details of the deceased were not provided in the officials' publication.

Thus, at least 536 fighters from North Ossetia have been officially recognized as killed on the Ukrainian front. The "Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the military operation. The list was compiled based on data officially released by government officials and security agencies, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "North Ossetian Military District Statistics: Casualties Risen in Southern Russia."

The name of another Ardon resident killed in Ukraine was released by local authorities about a month ago: Zaurbek Kulaev was buried on December 10. In early October, they reported that Tamerlan Gagiyev from the village of Michurino had been killed in fighting in Ukraine.

The "Caucasian Knot" also wrote that being sent to a war zone is used by prisoners and those accused of serious crimes as a way to be released early, without having to fully serve their sentences. For example, in 2023, former police officer Vadim Tekhov, who had been sentenced two years earlier to 16 years for the murder of his ex-wife, Regina Gagieva, was spotted in Vladikavkaz. In June 2025, Telegram channels reported that Tekhov was dead. However, sources noted that his death in the war zone was not related to his participation in the fighting.
