The religious procession in the Yubileiny microdistrict of Krasnodar attracted significantly fewer people than the recorded appeal against the construction of a church on the embankment.

As reported by "Kavkazsky Uzel," on December 15, 2025, residents of the Yubileiny microdistrict of Krasnodar, protesting against the embankment development, recorded a video message to Vladimir Putin. According to City Duma deputy Alexander Safronov, more than 1,000 people participated in the action. The issue was not raised during the president's direct line. On December 17, 2025, Safronov was summoned to the police because of his video message to Putin. Safronov reported that a Krasnodar official had filed a denunciation against him.

The traditional religious procession took place in the Yubileiny microdistrict. Orthodox Christians marched along Chekistov Avenue to the Church of the Nativity of Christ. Clergy and Cossacks led the procession, the Krasnodar administration announced today.

Journalist Andrei Koshik drew attention to the publication.

"Christmas is the second most important holiday of the Church, comparable to Easter. It is an official holiday in the country. About 200 people participate in the procession from the Church of the Nativity of Christ, which celebrates its patronal feast, that is, a double feast. The church itself is filled with 500 believers. Compare this to the number of Krasnodar residents who recorded a video message against the development of a green zone on December 14," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

The procession was announced by the Krasnodar mayor's office as part of the Christmas events, and Krasnodar City Duma deputy Sergei Klimov also called for it, writes Yuga.ru.

A reader of the publication confirmed that approximately 200 people participated in the event. Footage from the scene shows a group of people walking along Chekistov Avenue. Church ministers are leading the way, followed by children carrying toy sheep. The procession was accompanied by police officers.

As a reminder, despite numerous protests, Krasnodar authorities rejected all objections from Yubileyny residents to the embankment development, but they took into account the position of those who support the church construction. Residents are confident that only the attention of federal authorities will prevent the development of the green recreation area. Together with representatives of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, they began collecting signatures demanding the resignation of Mayor Yevgeny Naumov. In September 2024, activists in the Yubileiny microdistrict collected signatures for a petition to the governor against the development of Rozhdestvenskaya Embankment. More than 3,000 signatures were collected. Activist Vitaly Cherkasov and deputy Alexander Safronov were detained while collecting signatures and fined by the court. Residents of the microdistrict actively protested the development of the embankment, explaining that it was the only major recreational area in the microdistrict. However, in November 2024, city council deputies adopted a new general plan despite their protests.

Back in December 2021, activists protested the construction of a new church on the embankment in Krasnodar, and residents of the Yubileiny microdistrict also protested. Embankment advocates believe it is necessary to build educational and leisure facilities for children in the microdistrict. In January 2022, activist Yana Antonova held a solo picket against the transfer of land on the embankment to the Russian Orthodox Church for the construction of a church.
