The preventive measure for Tashir Group president and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan has been changed to house arrest and bail. This was announced by his lawyer, Aram Vardevanyan, according to Novosti-Armenia.

Samvel Karapetyan, the leader of the "Po-Nashemu" movement and owner of the Tashir Group, has been released from the Yerevan-Kentron Penitentiary and is heading home. The assembled citizens greeted him with applause, reports News.am.

Since November 18, 2025, we have filed more than ten petitions with investigative bodies, the prosecutor's office, and other authorized agencies. Each of these has an impact on compliance with the law. On December 30, lawyer Aram Vardeyan stated this in an interview with Yerevan Kentron, commenting on the court's decision to replace Samvel Karapetyan's preventive measure with house arrest. "The investigator rejected our motions regarding the fulfillment of their duties and risk mitigation, calling them unfounded. None of this could remain without legal consequences. During this time, we collected and systematized all the arguments and presented them to the court as new evidence," Vardeyan stated. "The court partially granted our motion, applying house arrest and bail. I want to emphasize that house arrest is the same as arrest. In this case, we are talking about intensive restrictions, and special congratulations are not appropriate here. Rest assured: house arrest is also a severe preventive measure that restricts freedom," he noted. "Vardeyan" He clarified that the restrictions on communication are being applied in an intensive manner: "They apply exclusively to immediate family members. It appears that restrictions on freedom of speech are also envisaged. After receiving the full text of the court's decision, we will express our position, including an appeal. The preventive measure we were counting on is simply the cancellation of the preventive measure itself," the lawyer added.

As a reminder, on October 13, it became known that investigators had brought new economic charges against Samvel Karapetyan. "The investigative body has set a new bar for ongoing illegality: it has brought yet another economic charge without any relevant data, without any minimal legal basis," the businessman's lawyers stated at the time.

In July, 65 members of the Armenian parliament supported a bill that would allow the nationalization of Karapetyan's company, Electric Networks of Armenia. On July 8, security forces searched the company's offices and the home of board chairman Narek Karapetyan.

On July 11, Vaghinak Ghazaryan, director of Karapetyan's Tashir Pizza company, was arrested on charges of tax evasion.
