The head of a district in the Astrakhan region is suspected of fraud.

Dmitry Kuryanov, head of the Narimanov District, is suspected of involvement in the embezzlement of nearly 5 million rubles in budget funds and has been detained.

According to investigators, Dmitry Kuryanov, while still deputy head of the district, conspired with the acting head, Narimanov, and the management of a commercial organization to illegally obtain funds from the budget allocated for the reconstruction of heating networks, Kommersant reports.

Kuryanov, in particular, coordinated the conclusion of reconstruction contracts with the company and ensured the transfer of funds to its bank account. Moreover, the company's CEO provided false information about the purchase of materials and work performed in the reports. Thus, 4.7 million rubles were stolen from the budget.

A criminal case against acting head Narimanov had been opened earlier. As for Kuryanov, he is suspected of committing a crime under Article 159 of the Russian Criminal Code (fraud).

Previously, "Caucasian Knot" reported that in early December, the court remanded Dmitry Mazaev, the former head of the Privolzhsky District of the Astrakhan Region, into custody, accused of abuse of office.
