The corruption case against the brother of the head of Ingushetia has reached court
A criminal case involving the embezzlement of funds from the Russian Pension Fund, in which Magomed-Bashir Kalimatov is one of the defendants, has been filed with the Cherkessk City Court.
As reported by the " Caucasian Knot ," in mid-June, a court in Cherkessk sentenced Danima Ugurchieva, head of the Ekazhevo post office, to 4.5 years in prison in the case against the brother of the head of Ingushetia, finding her guilty of eight counts of fraud and participation in a criminal organization. Earlier, a court in Cherkessk sentenced Rodimkhan Kartoeva, head of the post office in the village of Inarki.
In May 2024, the Meshchansky Court of Moscow arrested Magomed-Bashir Kalimatov, who previously headed the Russian Post branch in Ingushetia, on charges of fraud and creating a criminal organization. The prosecution linked Makhmud-Ali Kalimatov, the brother of the head of Ingushetia , to a case involving the embezzlement of two billion rubles by employees of the Pension Fund and Russian Post. On October 30, it was announced that Magomed-Bashir Kalimatov had been charged with eight counts of fraud and creating a criminal organization.
According to investigators, no later than 2020, Kalimatov, Sukiyev, as well as Islam Seinaroyev, head of the republican branch of the Russian Pension Fund, and other individuals, created a criminal organization in Moscow and Ingushetia aimed at embezzling budget funds, TASS reported.
Members of a criminal organization organized the illegal recalculation of pensions and the accrual of one-time payments for previous periods to residents of Ingushetia without their knowledge, in order to steal funds. Pension Fund employees transferred the funds to bank accounts of the Ingushetia branch of JSC Russian Post for cashing. Legitimate pensions were distributed to post offices across the republic for distribution to residents, and the funds illegally obtained under the guise of pension recalculations were stolen, according to the press service of the courts of Karachay-Cherkessia.
The Cherkessk City Court received a criminal case against 29 defendants, each accused of their role in creating a criminal organization or participating in it using their official positionand in fraud committed by an organized group on an especially large scale", the message says.
As part of the criminal case, the Pension and Social Insurance Fund of the Russian Federation filed a civil suit for 371 million rubles. The Fifth Cassation Court extended the defendants' pretrial detention until January 31, 2026. "House arrest has been imposed on three defendants, and pretrial detention on 26 defendants," the press service noted.
The "Caucasian Knot" also reported that the Ingush branch of the FSB reported numerous cases of illegal pension processing totaling over 2 billion rubles in February 2023. Charges were brought against 34 people in connection with the theft from the Pension Fund, including former officials and employees of the Russian Post Pension Fund. According to investigators, the criminal organization, which operated from 2019 to 2021, was created by Islam Seinaroyev, head of the Pension Fund in Ingushetia, and Kambulat Sukiyev, head of the Ingush branch of Russian Post.
