Akhmad Batlukhsky's arrest has been extended.

A court in Makhachkala extended the pretrial detention of Dagestani religious figure Akhmad Batlukhsky, arrested on libel charges, by one month.

As reported by the Caucasian Knot, on November 8, Akhmad Batlukhsky (Magomedov) was detained at the Moscow airport on libel charges and sent to Makhachkala. On November 10, the court placed him in pretrial detention for 29 days. Batlukhsky had a conflict with the Dagestani Muftiate and had been living outside of Russia in recent years, according to journalist Zaur Gaziyev.

The Soviet District Court of Makhachkala today extended the arrest of Akhmad Batlukhsky Magomedov, reported Shamil Khadulaev, head of the Dagestan Public Monitoring Commission (PMC).

Magomedov's arrest has been extended for another month, Khadulaev wrote on his Telegram channel.

Batlukhsky's defense previously accused the Ministry of Internal Affairs of falsifying evidence in his case: a senior investigator at the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Makhachkala issued a ruling ordering a psychological and psychiatric examination of Magomedov, citing the fact that the accused had been registered with a drug addiction specialist since 2018. However, in response to a request from his lawyer, the Republican Drug Addiction Dispensary could not confirm that Magomedov was registered with a drug addiction specialist.

The "Caucasian Knot" also reported that in May 2024, Akhmad Magomedov's house burned down in the Dagestani village of Batlukh, after he had already left Russia. Three people were arrested for arson, and in January 2025, the court found them guilty. Akhmed Omarov was sentenced to 1.5 years in a penal colony, Abdul Abdulaev to a year and three months of suspended imprisonment, and Sultan Magomedov to 1.5 years. They also must compensate Batlukhsky for the cost of the house.
