A contract soldier from the Volgograd region was killed in a military operation.

Alexey Novikov was killed in combat in Ukraine. Since the beginning of the military operation, at least 1,557 soldiers from the Volgograd region have been officially recognized as killed in it.

At least 4,008 fighters from the North Caucasus Federal District and 4,092 from the Southern Federal District have been officially recognized as killed in the military operation in Ukraine.

The funeral of Alexei Novikov, born in 1988, was held in the village of Glazunovskaya, the head of the Kumylzhensky district reported on his Telegram channel on November 29.

"Novikov A.V. served in the assault company "Z" under contract. He died on September 30, 2023, during "while carrying out a combat mission during a special military operation," the publication states.

Thus, at least 1,557 soldiers from the Volgograd Region have been officially recognized as killed in the military operation. The Caucasian Knot maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the military operation. The list was compiled based on data officially announced by government officials and law enforcement agencies, according to the Caucasian Knot report "North Caucasus Military District Statistics: Casualties Are Growing for Southern Russia."
