The criminal case against the Kopaigorodskikh family has been sent to the Supreme Court.

The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has approved the indictment in the Kopaigorodskys' bribery case and sent the criminal case to the Supreme Court for a determination of territorial jurisdiction.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot," on September 22, the Moscow City Court extended the arrest of Alexei Kopaigorodsky for three months, until December 24. At the end of October, the Prosecutor General's Office demanded that property worth 1.6 billion rubles be seized from Kopaigorodsky and his wife.

The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has approved the indictment against former Sochi Mayor Alexei Kopaigorodsky, his wife Yanina Kopaigorodskaya, and her assistant Alexander Pasunko, Interfax reported on November 21, citing the agency's press service.

The criminal case has been sent to the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation for consideration of territorial jurisdiction. Meanwhile, the Khostinsky District Court of Sochi continues to hear the Prosecutor General's Office's anti-corruption lawsuit against Kopaigorodsky and affiliated entities.

A native of Krasnodar, Alexei Kopaigorodsky has led Sochi since 2019. On May 14, 2024, he submitted his resignation due to a transfer to a new position. The following day, the City Council accepted the mayor's resignation. In September 2024, a court arrested Kopaigorodsky on charges of accepting bribes, embezzlement, and receiving significant remuneration.

In August, Kopaigorodsky was indicted on new charges – money laundering in excess of 104 million rubles. His wife is also implicated in this case. At the end of October, the court accepted for consideration a claim by the Prosecutor General’s Office, which demanded that 14 apartments, land plots, cars, and other property of Alexei and Yanina Kopaigorodsky and people and organizations associated with them be confiscated for the benefit of the state.
