A migrant has been convicted of recruiting for ISIS in Adygea.

A military court in Rostov-on-Don convicted an Uzbek citizen arrested in Adygea of participating in and recruiting ISIS*.

Sirojiddin Tukhtayev was charged with participating in a terrorist organization and assisting its activities (Part 2 of Article 205.5 and Part 1.1 of Article 205.1 of the Russian Criminal Code). The first article carries a sentence of 10 to 20 years in prison, the second - from eight to 15 years.

According to the prosecution, from October 2023 to January 2024, the Uzbek citizen, while in Adygea and the Krasnodar Territory, corresponded with a minor, convincing her to participate in the activities of the banned international terrorist organization Islamic State.

Another charge concerns the period from March 1 to May 31, 2024, when Tukhtayev was in custody in Adygea. While there, he allegedly encouraged a fellow inmate to share "radical Islamic ideas" and support the activities of a terrorist organization, according to a statement from the court's press service.

Tukhtayev, who was already convicted by the Maykop City Court in November 2024, received a cumulative sentence of 15 years in a maximum-security prison, with the first three years to be served in prison. The report does not specify under what article or for how long the Uzbek citizen was sentenced in Maykop.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that the Southern District Military Court sentenced Muscovite Dzhokhar Khadzhiev, who, according to security officials, attempted to join ISIS* militants in Syria in 2024. Khadzhiev was detained at the Sochi airport as he was planning to board a Turkish flight.
