A journalist arrested in Azerbaijan has been hospitalized.

Journalist Shamshad Agayev, arrested in the Meydan TV case, has developed health problems.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," the Baku Court of Appeal refused to soften the preventive measure for journalist Fatima Movlamli, arrested in the Meydan TV case, despite the completion of the investigation.

Ten other people were also involved in the case alongside Movlamli: Meydan TV journalists Aynur Elgunesh, Nurlan Gahramanli (Libre) and Aytaj Akhmedova (Tapdyg), Ramin Deko (Jabrailzade), Aysel Umudova, Khayala Agayeva, Natig Javadli, the editor-in-chief of the website argument.az Shamshad Aga (Agayev), Voice of America journalist Ulviya Ali (Guliyeva), and civil activist Ulvi Tahirov. At the end of August, it was announced that the investigation had been completed, and a 12th suspect, photojournalist Akhmed Mukhtar, had emerged in the Meydan TV case.

The editor-in-chief of the website argument.az, Shamshad Aga (Agayev), was placed in a Penitentiary Service medical facility due to gastrointestinal problems. The journalist suffers from a stomach ulcer, Meydan TV reported, citing relatives.

On September 16, the Khatai District Court held a hearing to extend the pretrial detention of journalists arrested in the Meydan TV case. During the trial, the detention periods of journalists Fatima Movlamli, Ulviyya Ali, and Shamshad Aga were extended for another three months.

Along with Meydan TV employees, journalists from other media outlets, including Toplum TV, Abzas Media, and Kanal-13, were also subjected to persecution. The persecution of journalists is described in the "Caucasian Knot" report "Serial Arrests of Journalists in Azerbaijan".
