A soldier from Kabardino-Balkaria was killed in Ukraine

Astemir Khashkulov from the Zolsky district was killed in combat. Since the beginning of the Russian operation in Ukraine, the authorities have publicly acknowledged that at least 291 soldiers from Kabardino-Balkaria were killed there.

As "Kavkazsky Uzel" reported, by September 16, representatives of the authorities and security agencies officially admitted that at least 7,404 soldiers from the south of Russia were killed in Ukraine, including 290 from Kabardino-Balkaria.

The name of another soldier from Kabardino-Balkaria killed in Ukraine was announced today by municipal officials, reporting on the presentation of a posthumous award to his relatives.

Astemir Khashkulov is a native of the village of Shordakovo. He went to the war zone voluntarily at the age of 31, and was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage, according to a publication on the official Telegram channel of the Zolsky District Administration.

Thus, at least 291 servicemen from Kabardino-Balkaria have been officially recognized as killed in Ukraine. The "Caucasian Knot" knows the names of 278 of them, and the deaths of another 13 became known from the republic's authorities' report on payments to the families of those killed in 2022.

The "Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the war zone in Ukraine. The list was compiled based on data officially announced by government officials and law enforcement agencies, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "Statistics of the SVO: losses are growing for the south of Russia".
