Ingush resident sentenced to long term of imprisonment in a case on terrorism

A court sentenced Turpal-Ali Dzeitov, a resident of Ingushetia, to 14 years of imprisonment on the charge of participating in the activities of terrorist organizations and recruiting people for them. Turpal-Ali Dzeitov was carrying out instructions of Aslan Butyukaev, the head of the organization “Imarat Kavkaz”* and his deputy, the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) reported.

According to the investigators’ version, Turpal-Ali Dzeitov adhered to a radical trend in Islam and around June 2019 joined the “Imarat Kavkaz”* led by Aslan Butyukaev. Investigators suggest that Turpal-Ali Dzeitov was engaged in recruiting people into the organization to carry out terror acts. In particular, the defendant involved his nephews in the organization, one of whom was a minor.

Turpal-Ali Dzeitov also wrote a post on the social media outlet promoting the “Islamic State” (ISIL, a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court, – note of the “Caucasian Knot”).

Aslan Butyukaev was involved in the terror act at Domodedovo Airport in 2011 and the attack of Chechen militants on Grozny on December 4, 2014. He was also included in the sanctions lists of the United States and the European Union.
