Amnesty International: human rights are still violently broken in Northern Caucasus

The international human rights organization Amnesty International has stated that human rights are still violently broken in Northern Caucasus, while access of NGOs to the region is hindered.

"Human rights are still roughly broken in the atmosphere of impunity reigning in Chechnya and other republics of Northern Caucasus, in particular, in Ingushetia, Dagestan and Kabardino-Balkaria. As before, the civilian population lives in conditions of lawlessness, which gives rise to fear and insecurity," runs the new report of the organization.

The authors of the research report that "for achieving a legitimate aim of bridling violence of armed groupings and restoring stability in Northern Caucasus, law enforcers are still using methods contrary to the international law in the area of human rights," the " Interfax" Agency reports.

"Normalization in Chechnya, same as in the whole Northern Caucasus, is impossible without complete eradication of human rights violations and attraction to responsibility of all the persons guilty of rough violations of human rights, accomplished in the past," the "Echo Moskvy" Radio quotes the report.
