Ramzan Kadyrov dissatisfied with verdict in Boris Nemtsov's murder case

According to the leader of Chechnya, in the case on the Boris Nemtsov' murder, the verdict to the defendants has been pronounced with dubious evidence of their guilt and looks "strange." The sentenced men may be sent to serve their sentence in Chechnya and released. This fear was voiced by human rights defender Lyudmila Alekseeva.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 13, in the case on the Boris Nemtsov' murder, the court sentenced five defendants to 11 to 20 years of imprisonment.

According to the website of the Chechen leader and government, "the leader of the republic was surprised by the public prosecutor's appeal to the court with a request to sentence one of the defendants to life imprisonment."

In his turn, an advocate has noted that in 2015, Oleg Sentsov, a Ukrainian filmmaker, accused of creating a terrorist community and committing terror acts, was sentenced to the same punishment like Zaur Dadaev 20 years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony.

However, as advocate Prokhorov noted, the filmmaker "did not kill anyone." He has also added that Zaur Dadaev and Tamerlan Eskerkhanov "are to serve their sentences in special penal colonies for former law enforcers," the "Echo Moskvy" reports.

Lyudmila Alekseeva, the chair of the Moscow Helsinki Group, has stated that the verdict provided conditional early relief (CER) for the sentenced men.

Lyudmila Alekseeva has also noted that the judge "carefully avoided the issue" about the persons who ordered the murder. The human rights defender has also called a version of the religious motive for the crime as "nonsense."
