A soldier from Kalmykia was killed in the special military operation zone.

Bembya Ubushiev from the Yustin district was killed in combat. Since the beginning of the military operation in Ukraine, authorities and security forces have acknowledged at least 263 fighters from Kalmykia as killed.

Bembya Ubushiev was born on June 29, 2001, in the village of Tsagan-Aman in the Yustin district. He started primary school in Moscow, later moved to Elista, and graduated from a school in Elista, reported the state news agency "Kalmykia".

In 2024, he signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense and went to the combat zone in Ukraine. He served in a military unit as a rifleman-radio operator in the capture platoon of the assault company. He was killed near Luhansk on January 2, 2025, and posthumously awarded the Order of Courage.
