Menyaylo has been re-elected as the head of North Ossetia.

The deputies of the parliament of North Ossetia elected Sergey Menyaylo as the head of the republic by a majority vote; he took the oath and assumed office.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", Russian President Vladimir Putin submitted three candidates for consideration by the parliament — the acting head Sergey Menyaylo, the deputy general director of LLC "Selengaugol" Oleg Varnavin, and the deputy of the republican parliament, director of the North Ossetian State Academic Theater named after V. Tkhapseyev Chermen Dudati. In 2021, Menyaylo, who had previously led the republic as acting head, was unanimously elected as the head of North Ossetia: all 57 deputies present at the meeting supported him.

The deputies of the parliament of North Ossetia elected Sergey Menyaylo as the head of the republic by a majority vote, who has been leading the republic since 2021, reports "15th Region".

The parliamentarians chose the head of North Ossetia from three candidates proposed to the regional legislative body by the President of the Russian Federation upon the recommendation of political parties.

Besides Menyaylo, the candidates for this position were the deputy of the parliament, director of the state budget institution of culture "North Ossetian State Academic Theater named after Vladimir Tkhapseyev" Chermen Dudati and the deputy general director of the limited liability company "Selengaugol" Oleg Varnavin.

The deputies cast 61 votes for Sergey Menyaylo's candidacy. Alexey Varnavin received 5 votes, and Chermen Dudati received 0 votes.

Sergey Menyaylo took the oath in two languages. He officially assumed office, reports "Osnova".

Speaking in parliament, Menyaylo stated that the planned construction of a transport and logistics hub in the Prigorodny district this year has been suspended.

"Today, the difficult situation in the country and the world affects all areas of life and creates additional challenges for all regions. In particular, because of this, we were forced to suspend the planned construction of the transport and logistics hub in the Prigorodny district this year. But we are not abandoning the project. Any difficulties force us to seek new solutions," said Menyaylo.

He emphasized that there is a decision on this issue. The project will be restructured, but its implementation will continue, informs "Ir Inform".

It should be noted that in all republics of the North Caucasus, except Chechnya, heads are elected by regional parliaments. Direct elections of regional leaders in Russia were canceled in 2004, restored in 2012, but in 2013 federal legislation again allowed regions to refuse direct voting. North Ossetia switched to a parliamentary model of electing the head in the fall of 2013.
