A resident of Dagestan was convicted in a case of preparing a terrorist act.

The court sentenced a resident of Dagestan to a long term of imprisonment, finding him guilty of involvement in a terrorist community, attempted terrorism, and illegal acquisition of weapons.

According to the investigation and the court, the convicted person formed a terrorist community in 2024, whose members planned to carry out a terrorist act near the building of one of the law enforcement agencies and attack law enforcement officers.

In addition, the convicted person, together with other members, acquired firearms and attempted to manufacture an improvised explosive device for the terrorist act. He was unable to carry out his plan as he was detained by police and FSB officers in Dagestan, the press service of the investigative committee reported on their page on "VKontakte".

The court found him guilty of participating in a terrorist community, illegal acquisition of weapons, and attempted terrorism, sentencing him to 15 years in prison. The first three years, the convicted person will serve his sentence in prison, and the remaining part of the term in a strict regime correctional colony, with a restriction of freedom for one and a half years. In addition, he was fined 600,000 rubles.

The criminal case against the other members of the terrorist community is currently being considered in court, the press service of the agency clarified.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that the Southern District Military Court began field hearings in Nalchik regarding the case of 11 residents of Dagestan, preparing terrorist acts against the facilities of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the FSB. The process is taking place in a closed mode.
