A teenager from Volzhsky is suspected of setting fire to a police car.

The police of the Volgograd region reported the detention of a 17-year-old resident of Volzhsky in connection with the arson of a police car. The FSB officers participated in the detention, and the actions of the young man were classified as terrorism.

According to the investigation, on September 8 at around four in the morning, police officers, while reviewing surveillance cameras, discovered a fire in a service vehicle. The fire was quickly extinguished, and forensic experts established that the cause of the fire was arson. As a result of the announced search, operatives detained a resident of the Sredneakhtuba district, suspected of the arson.

Investigators claim that the young man acted on the instructions of unknown individuals who, over the phone, introduced themselves as employees of the "Gosuslugi" portal and a law enforcement agency. Under the pretext of an alleged leak of personal data and the possible attraction of criminal liability, they convinced him to set fire to the police service vehicle, reports "Interfax" today, citing the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Volgograd region.

A criminal case has been initiated under the article on terrorist acts (Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), which provides for up to 20 years of imprisonment, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the region reported on its Telegram channel.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Volgograd region also published a short video showing part of the burned police car and the interrogation of the detained by investigators. The suspect, a young man, stated that he was transferred money to buy three one-liter bottles of ignition mixture, five liters of water, napkins, and coals.

"After that, I went to the third department, stuffed a kitchen towel between the hood and the glass, poured the ignition mixture, and set fire to the Gazelle with the inscription 'Duty Unit'," the suspect said.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that in June, a case against a 17-year-old resident of Volgograd was submitted to the court, who was accused of arson of two mobile communication base stations.
