Grozny residents complained about regular power outages.

For almost the entire summer, residents of Grozny complained about regular power outages in different areas. In August, planned outages lasting four hours or more occurred in Grozny, Gudermes, Grozny District, and Urus-Martan District.

Residents of Grozny interviewed by a correspondent from "Caucasian Knot" had different opinions about the situation with power outages in the city this summer.

One resident of Grozny, speaking on condition of anonymity, reported that the outages were frequent and prolonged. "The outages were constant. Sometimes they lasted all day. They became so frequent that we got used to them and no longer pay attention to them," he told the correspondent from "Caucasian Knot."

Another resident of Grozny, on the contrary, noted to the correspondent from "Caucasian Knot" that there were few outages and they did not affect her life. Two more residents of the city told the correspondent from "Caucasian Knot" that they did not encounter power outages at all this summer.

In different areas of the city, the situation with power outages varies, noted Grozny resident Muhammed. "In some places, there were more and longer outages, in others, short outages, and in some places, there were no outages at all," he told the correspondent from "Caucasian Knot."

Let us remind you that residents had previously reported to "Caucasian Knot" about the differences in the situation in different parts of Grozny. For example, in August 2024, a resident of the Visaitevsky District Aishat reported that electricity used to be turned off daily, sometimes almost all day. Grozny resident Khava also mentioned that during hot weather, outages were constant, while there were no outages on the outskirts of the city, whereas the center experienced constant failures.

A resident of the Akhmatovsky District of Grozny Mansur reported in August 2024 about outages lasting five to six hours and the related household problems he faced.

In March 2026, a resident living in the center of Grozny Tamerlan reported that in a month, electricity was turned off only a couple of times for a few hours, and it did not significantly affect his daily life.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that specialists previously linked power supply problems in southern Russia to the state of the power grid infrastructure. In July 2024, physicist Andrey Ozharsky pointed out the lack of transformers and power lines, while ecologist Viktor Chirikov noted the wear of networks and the lack of step-down transformers in growing cities.

In July 2019, economist Sergey Sasim, commenting on the launch of the Grozny TPP, noted the peculiarities of the impact of the growth of generating and network capacities on the final tariffs for consumers.
