Five people have been arrested in Dagestan on charges of illegal trafficking in weapons.

Until October 6, the court in Makhachkala arrested five local residents accused of illegal trafficking in weapons, ammunition, and explosive devices.

The Soviet District Court of Makhachkala arrested five defendants in a criminal case regarding illegal trafficking in weapons, ammunition, and devices at the request of the investigation.

According to the investigation, in 2022-2023, five group members acquired weapons, ammunition, and explosive devices from unidentified individuals, which they stored at home. On August 5 of this year, law enforcement officers discovered and seized the stored items, writes "Kommersant" on August 8.

A criminal case has been initiated against the detainees under paragraph "a" of part 3 of article 222 and paragraph "a" of part 3 of article 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal trafficking in weapons, ammunition, and explosive devices committed by an organized group). All five have been remanded in custody until October 6.

Earlier, "Caucasian Knot" reported that at the end of July, a man was detained in the Untsukul district of Dagestan, who had a Makarov pistol with ammunition in his possession; he is accused of illegal trafficking in weapons.
