Three suspects in the assassination attempt on a security official have been arrested in Ingushetia.

Law enforcement officers have detained three suspects in an attempted murder in Ingushetia; all have been taken into custody. The assassination attempt was on the former head of the Karabulak police department, Ilez Nalgiev, committed in February 2025.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," on February 16, 2025, it became known that Ilez Nalgiev, the former head of the Karabulak police department and previously convicted of torturing a detainee, was wounded in an attack in Sunzha. The attacker fired several shots at Nalgiev and fled; his car was found burned in the village of Surkhakhi. Nalgiev was hospitalized with a leg wound.

On July 30, the republic's Investigative Committee reported the arrest of three suspects in the assassination attempt on a resident of Ingushetia. Officers from the FSB Directorate for Ingushetia participated in the investigation.

According to the agency, the detainees were involved in the attempted murder of a 41-year-old man near the Terrasa restaurant in Sunzha on February 15, 2025. The attackers fired at least seven shots at him, causing a through-and-through gunshot wound to his thigh.

Law enforcement officials note that the shooters fled the scene in a car, unable to complete the crime due to circumstances beyond their control. They subsequently set fire to the car they used on the road between the villages of Yandare and Surkhakhi.

The court had previously remanded one of the detainees in custody, while investigators requested the arrest of the other two. The court granted the request and remanded them in pretrial detention until September 29, 2026, according to a statement on the Investigative Committee's Telegram channel.

The victim's name and occupation were not disclosed in official agency statements, but law enforcement sources confirmed that he is "the former deputy head of the Karabulak police department," Interfax reports. The source, Sapa Kavkaz, indicated that the person in question is Ilez Nalgiev.
