The court in Nalchik sentenced serviceman Idris Khashagulgov to five years in prison, finding him guilty of evading military service.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on September 24, 2022, parts 2.1, 3.1, and 5 of Article 337 on desertion or leaving a unit during mobilization were introduced into the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The amendments provide for imprisonment for up to 10 years. The tightening of legislation after the announcement of mobilization led to harsher sentences for absence from military units or desertion.

According to the case materials, serviceman Khashagulgov, without valid reasons, failed to report for duty at his military unit on August 11, 2025, that is, during the mobilization period, the press service of the Nalchik garrison military court informs on its page on "VKontakte".

On May 12, 2026, Khashagulgov was found by a police officer in the city of Sunzha, Ingushetia, and "from August 11, 2025, to May 12, 2026, Khashagulgov spent his time at his place of residence at his discretion," the court's message states.

The Nalchik garrison military court found Khashagulgov guilty of failing to report for duty for more than one month without valid reasons 1 and sentenced him to five years of imprisonment. The convicted person will serve his sentence in a general regime colony.

According to the criminal case card on the court's website, Idris Khashagulgov's case was submitted for consideration on June 29, and the sentence was handed down on July 8 by Judge Pyatov.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that earlier the court in Nalchik sentenced serviceman Ravil Sadikov to one year in prison, finding him guilty of being absent from service for no more than one month.
