Dozens of residents of Dagestan have been evacuated after flooding in two villages.

Residents of 13 houses in the village of Majalis have been evacuated due to damage to the dam. About 30 people were evacuated to the village of Tashkapur due to the river overflowing its banks.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", in several districts of Dagestan, as a result of heavy rainfall that fell on July 7-8, flooding occurred, along with washouts of roads and bridges.

The rise in water level in the Uluchai River led to partial destruction of the dam on the outskirts of the village of Majalis in the Kaytagsky district of Dagestan, the district administration's press service reported. "Due to the rise in water level in the Uluchai River after heavy rainfall, partial destruction of the hydraulic structure (dam) occurred on the outskirts of the village of Majalis. Due to the threat of flooding of private residential houses in the settlement, residents of 13 households were evacuated last night: three of them are in close proximity to the river, the others are on the neighboring street," the official's words are quoted by "Interfax".

The evacuated locals are housed in a temporary accommodation center at the inter-district secondary boarding school in the village of Majalis. According to a press service employee quoted by RIA Novosti, the houses are not destroyed, and the water level in the river has decreased.

Yesterday, July 8, about 30 people living in the Levashinsky district of Dagestan were evacuated from their homes due to the river overflowing its banks after the rains. Due to the formation of a blockage of wood and debris in the riverbed of the Kazikumukh Koysu near the village of Tashkapur, the water level rose sharply.

"There are damages to outbuildings in three households. The threat of flooding remains for five houses located in close proximity to the riverbed, where 27 people live, including 12 children. Residents of these households have been evacuated to a safe place," the district administration's message states.

According to authorities, there are no casualties or injuries. The district administration clarified that flooding of part of the street and road network has also been recorded.

It is worth noting that by July 8, assistance had been provided to 65,500 residents of Dagestan affected by the spring flooding, which is less than 24% of the total number of applicants.
