Two soldiers from Dagestan were killed in Ukraine.

Mutalib Isakov and Dzhamidin Yuzbekov from the Akhtynsky District were killed in combat. Since the beginning of the Russian operation in Ukraine, authorities have publicly named at least 2,017 Dagestani servicemen killed there.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," by June 24, officials and security forces had officially announced at least 4,672 servicemen from the Southern Federal District and 4,628 from the North Caucasus Federal District killed in Ukraine, including 2,015 fighters from Dagestan.

The names of two more Dagestani combatants killed in Ukraine were announced by the Akhtynsky District administration, reporting on the presentation of posthumous awards to their relatives.

The dead were Dzhamidin Yuzbekov, a native of the village of Akhty, and Mutalib Isakov, a native of the village of Smugul. Both were posthumously awarded the Order of Courage. Yuzbekov's award was given to his wife, and Isakov's to his brother, according to the municipality's official Telegram channel.

The ages and biographical details of the killed fighters were not provided in the official statement.

Thus, at least 2,017 combatants from Dagestan have been officially recognized as killed in Ukraine. "Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the military operation. The list was compiled based on data officially released by government officials and law enforcement agencies, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "Northeastern Military District Statistics: Casualties Are Growing in Southern Russia."

In early June, the Akhtynsky District administration reported that Keisedin Samedov from the village of Akhty had been killed in Ukraine.

Dagestan ranks first among the regions of the North Caucasus Federal District in the number of those killed, whose names have been officially released by the authorities. Sergei Melikov, who led Dagestan in February 2022, was the first government official to announce that a Russian soldier had been killed in Ukraine, acknowledging the death of officer Nurmagomed Gadzimagomedov. Caucasian Knot also reported that 18-year-old Said Murtazaliev from Dagestan was tortured by security forces in the Moscow region to sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense. Commanders in the combat zone forced him to collect money, after which he was declared missing. "I myself was sent to the assault, where Comrade 'Spartak' said that an order had been received to reset my status," Murtazaliev said in his final video message sent to his mother.

State awards, memorial plaques, and appearances on Channel One do not guarantee state support for the families of those killed, according to the "Caucasian Knot" article "Three Comrades Served: How the Authorities Are Depriving the Families of Killed Volunteers of Benefits," which describes the stories of the slain soldiers. "As a family of military pensioners, I receive only twelve thousand rubles a month for two minor children," complains the wife of Vasily Shtylun, who received five million rubles from the "Veterans" unit for her husband, who was killed in 2022.
