The defense team of former Krasnodar police officer Alexander Ablaev, convicted of accepting bribes from Baza journalists, has filed an appeal against the sentence.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," on June 3, the Savelovsky Court of Moscow sentenced former Krasnodar Interior Ministry duty officer Alexander Ablaev to five years in prison for accepting bribes from journalists of the online publication Baza.

The appeal has been filed with Moscow's Savelovsky Court; a hearing date has not yet been set.

As a reminder, on July 22, 2025, security forces searched the office of the Telegram channel "Baza." Editor-in-chief Gleb Trifonov was brought in for questioning and later arrested on charges of bribery by a group of individuals. Searches related to the case involving police officers transmitting information for publication on a Telegram channel were also conducted in the Krasnodar Territory. In Kuban and two other Russian regions, police officers were detained for transmitting information to "Base" employees.
