A Taganrog resident was convicted for commenting on the conflict in the Middle East.

A court in Taganrog has given a suspended two-year prison sentence to local resident Yelistratova, who is accused of public calls for extremism. She was tried for a comment about Iran's retaliatory strikes on Israel.

According to the court, Elistratova, using her personal cell phone, posted a text comment under a Telegram channel post about Iran's missile attack on Israel containing elements of a call to commit violent acts against a group of people based on their nationality, i.e., to engage in extremist activity.

In court, the Taganrog resident denied the charges of calling for extremism and explained that she did not call for violence against "representatives of Jewish nationality," the Taganrog City Court press service reported on its official website.

The defendant was found guilty of publicly calling for extremist activity. 1 and was given a two-year suspended sentence. She was also banned from administering online resources for the same period. Elistratova's sentence comes with a two-year probationary period.

According to the case file on the court's website, it was submitted for consideration on December 15, 2025, and the verdict was handed down on April 28, 2026, by Judge Papanova.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that a Rostov-on-Don court sentenced a Makeyevka resident to eight years in prison for calls for the bombing of Russian regions and violence against Russian citizens.
